Dolce Vita Gelateria is coming to Washington Township. Artisanal Gelato and Sorbetto!

Dolce Vita Gelateria arrives in Sewell (Washington Twp), offering artisanal ice creams and sorbets made with fresh and local ingredients!

The location is on Greentree Road at the Chapel Heights intersection, around the corner from Duffield’s Farm.

This news comes from the Township Business Buzz Facebook page, which is the “official page of the Washington Township Economic Development Advisory Board.” Follow them!

Their Facebook post says they will be opening in the spring of 2023. When I visited yesterday I could see a building permit already in the window, so it looks like they are looking to move fast!

Of course, 42Freeway always has more to add to the story! I stopped by the new location yesterday and found some details online…

Dolce Vita Gelateria Artisanal Ice Cream and Sorbet is Coming to Sewell Washington Twp NJ Spring 2023

Dolce Vita Gelateria – Old Aversa Bakery (Greentree)

The address of the new ice cream shop is 477A Greentree Road in Sewell, NJ.

The building supports two tenants, and Dolce Vita will take up the smaller section on the right.

Most recently the location was an Aversa bakery and deli, which closed a few years ago…I believe late 2019. Aversa still has bakeries/delicatessens in Turnersville, Brigantine, and Margate .

Artisanal ice cream and sorbet Dolce Vita Gelateria is moving to Greentree Road in Washington Twp.

Originally, the building was developed as a classic Wawa, and it’s still easy to see the architecture of the Wawa building!

The larger part of the building on the left houses Sewell Dental Designs (Facebook). Their entrance is the old main entrance to Wawa.

Looking for more details, I searched online and found an ongoing website for the new ice cream and sorbet shop. I haven’t found a Facebook page yet.

The new owners are doing a great job with building the content for the website, and although they’re not completely finished, there’s a lot of information already online.

Dolce Vita Gelateria describes its delicious frozen treats as “artisanal”

They offer a very informative page focused on what artisanal means…and in the process go into great detail about what makes their frozen desserts exceptional.

Township Business Buzz’s post says “Italy trained ice cream maker” and after reading the website it’s clear to me that the owner/chef of Dolce Vita Gelateria really knows what it takes to make amazing ice cream .

The former location of Aversa Bakery on Greentree Rd Sewell will soon host Dolce Vita Gelateria

You can read the details on their page but I will underline with…

  • High quality ingredients; No powder or mixes. All made from scratch using organic and local ingredients
  • Freshness: Made daily and never keeps long term.
  • Simpler flavors: The best-selling flavors in Italy are the simplest recipes; hazelnut, pistachio, almond, strawberry, lemon and chocolate. They won’t add too many ingredients or sweet toppings
  • Warmer temperature: ice cream is much more delicate than ice cream, and a warmer temperature keeps water free and makes the product smoother.
  • Air Incorporation: Gelato and ice cream include air in the final product, and Dolce Vita artisanal gelato will contain 30-35% air compared to 100% ice cream. This makes their ice cream richer, creamier and tastier.
  • Fat content: Ice cream contains less fat than ice cream. In some cases, a third of the ice cream!

Fresh and local ingredients at Dolce Vita Gelateria

Another page on their website features some of their top ingredient sources!

Dairy: The dairy source for Dolce Vita Gelateria is Kreider Farms in Lancaster County. These are just 1 of 4 “American Humane Certified” dairies in the country. They really pamper their cows to keep them happy and healthy!

Cows are milked several times a day where the milk is bottled the same day, and within days it is available in stores and restaurants…like Dolce Vita Gelateria coming to Sewell NJ

Produce: The freshest products will come from the Fiorentino farm in Hammonton. Quality and freshness have always been of the utmost importance to the family, since its beginnings in the late 1930s! All products are grown in the region by farmers following responsible agricultural practices.

Nuts: Pistachios, hazelnuts and almonds are sourced from Italy to give Dolce Vita gelato the most authentic Italian gelato experience possible.

Dairy products and produce have a short shelf life for freshness and Dolce Vita will make sure to get the freshest and regional local produce. Nuts have a longer shelf life and are able to deliver authentic Italian nut ingredients for the best flavor
